
Met Office Warns of Hot and Dry Conditions Across Sindh
Karachi and several other regions of Sindh are set to experience intense heat this week, with temperatures in the provincial capital expected to reach up to 40°C, according to the Meteorological Department. The prevailing weather pattern indicates continued hot and dry conditions, further exacerbated by high humidity levels.
Rising Temperatures and Increased Humidity
As per the latest forecasts, Karachi’s daytime temperatures will remain between 38°C and 40°C through Friday, with a slight increase anticipated on Saturday. Humidity levels have surged to 87%, amplifying discomfort for residents.
The Met Office has also reported that hot and dry conditions will dominate throughout Sindh, with gusty and dust-raising winds expected in upper areas during the afternoon.
Weather Outlook for Other Sindh Cities
Other major cities, including Hyderabad, Sukkur, Nawabshah, and Thatta, are also experiencing extreme heat, with temperatures ranging between 40°C and 43°C. The town of Mithi, where humidity levels have reached 66%, is expected to witness highs of 42°C.
Synoptic Weather Analysis
According to the synoptic situation issued Thursday morning, a trough of a westerly wave is currently affecting western Pakistan and may influence upper regions over the next 24 hours.
For Thursday, predominantly dry weather is forecast across most parts of the country, with isolated rain and thunderstorms expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and the Potohar region. Punjab and Sindh may also experience gusty winds.
The conditions are expected to persist on Friday, with continued hot and dry weather across the plains and a possibility of isolated showers in northern areas.
Rainfall and Weather Trends Over the Past 24 Hours
Over the last 24 hours, light rain was recorded at isolated locations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, including:
- Cherat: 3mm
- Dera Ismail Khan & Bannu: 1mm
- Rawalpindi: Trace amounts
Dry weather prevailed in most other regions.
